Gulls Roost Holiday Cottage - Port Isaac, Cornwall
The Cottage
Tucked away in a quiet little terrace yet within a few minutes stroll to the harbour, Gulls Roost is the perfect place for a peaceful coastal break.
Recently renovated, the cottage is thoughtfully decorated and furnished to ensure your stay is comfortable and relaxing.
Enter the cottage from the small lane straight into the light and airy kitchen area. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you could possibly need on your holiday – including a cocktail shaker and seafood picks!
Walk straight through to the dining area with comfortable seating for 4 and a bookcase full of games and jigsaws for your entertainment.
The lounge area completes the downstairs space. Furnished with cosy sofas and lit with soft lamps, this is the perfect spot to relax and either gaze at the tv, the log fire or watch through the windows as the cows on the hill make their way back to their barns.
Also downstairs is a cloakroom with toilet and handbasin and a small laundry cupboard.
Outside you have the choice of 2 seating areas. From the door in the sitting room enjoy the view towards the hills and watch the gulls soaring overhead or catch a glimpse of the sea from the patio or relax on the bench with a book. If you would prefer a shadier spot, there is also a small bistro table and chairs on the patio outside the kitchen.
Softly carpeted stairs lead to the second floor. Bedroom one has a king sized bed with a chest of drawers, shelving and a small wardrobe, with views across the village to Fern Cottage – also known as Doc Martin’s house.
The Velux lit bathroom has a heated towel rail, a large walk-in shower with a vanity unit washbasin and a toilet.
Bedroom two has sloping ceilings and is furnished with a double bed, tall chest of drawers and small wardrobe. This room also has access to the hot water cupboard where the iron and ironing board are stored (should you need them).
The cottage also benefits from its own parking bay less than 50 yards away. There are also a couple of areas next to the cottage to stop and drop/collect your bags.
The Village
Port Isaac, perhaps most famous for its staring role in the television series Doc Martin, has lots to offer any holiday maker.
The village has tea rooms and pasty shops, pubs and bars. You will be spoiled for choice with the range of restaurants – including two with Michelin stars. There are also gift shops, ice cream and fudge shops and even a Fish Cellar where (weather dependent) you can buy fresh fish and locally caught crab and lobster.
Sitting on the Cornish coastal path, there are plenty of opportunities for breath taking walks – Port Quin and onwards to Polzeath and Rock in one direction and Port Gaverne towards Tintagel in the other.
Tintagel, Boscastle, Rock and Padstow are all within easy driving distance and Newquay with it’s fantastic Fistral beach is just a few miles further on.
